Since this forum features a collection of the wisest and most informed toy-lovers on the web, I would like to ask you this:

Which cell phone and service combo do you suggest I should buy?

I am currently with ATT. I would like to get the new Ericsson T616, but they don't want to give it to me for less than $100.00. They gave me the Samsung x426 for free to try for 30 days, but no one can hear me and it just breaks up all the time. I do not know if it's the GSM network, the ATT network or the phone itself that is at fault, but I have to return it.

As I said, I have my eye on the Ericsson T616, which T-mobile offers for free to new customers (and I hear so does Cingular but I never did make it to their store). Since ATT won't give it to me for free, I don't mind witching to T-mobile.
But T-mobile also offers the Motorola V300 and the Samsung E105 for free, so I cannot make up my mind on which phone to take from them.

So I wanted to ask everyone about any experience/rumors/advice they might have to give on all the current providers and the phones they offer. I've been with ATT for 6 years and have never bothered to do any research on anyone else, so please enlighten me before I sign a contract and find out later on that I chose the worst network there is

Thanks!

The AT&T GSM network bites. I was on it for about a year and it was bad in every market I was in (Seattle, LA, Atlanta, DC, NYC).

I switched to Verizon and have been pretty happy with the network quality, but not overly nuts about the choice of phones...

No experience with T-Mobile or Cingular other than the fact that Cingular is buying AT&T Wireless...

We've had Sprint, ATT, Cingular, Nextel, and T-mobile. Sprint blew, ATT was good in our area, Cingular is GREAT in our area (5 lines everywhere), nextel blew in our area because we were in a hole in their network, and t-mobile is pretty much the same as cingular. it depends where you are, nextel may be good in say new york, but it sucks in my town. cingular may blow somewhere else, but i can't complain with 5 lines pretty much everywhere. I'd play with a few companies or ask your local people what they use and how they like it. it really depends! phone, i have the motorola V400, it's a nice phone i like it a lot, my mom has the sony ericcson, it is also nice. good luck

I have Alltel, with a Motorola phone and have great service all time. I've seriously never had reception problems in over 3 years.

Thanks so much everyone.

So it appears that T-mobile will be good for me since I am strictly a city dweller and they don't charge for raming anyway. Their rates are great, and so far the connection has been perfect (I've only had it for 2 days, but compared to the last ATT phone, this one is light years ahead)

But please keep the comments coming if there are more people with T-mobile experience, espacially in my area (Philadelhia)
