i've been with att and their tdma network since 96 and never had any dropped call or problem at all. it worked great along the west and east coast, midwest, toronto, hawaii....no complain..it's the reason i have not switched to any others. now only if their gsm service is as good, then i would switch in a heartbeat since i like the new sony ericsson phone that their tdma service does not offer. att tdma phone selection sucks.

Well, I agree that free phones tend to be crappy, but you have to be smart when you shop for one..... not just take whatever they give you. You have to look at the original price and do some research on the phone.

For example, when ATT offers the Sony Ericsson T616 for $150 MINIMUM in their store but you can find the same phone through Amazon or other web sites with T-mobile for rebates up to +$80.00, is it really the phone that is crappy or is it a marketing technique!

There are many such examples where you would by a phone for over $100 or even $200, but if you shop a round a little more, you would find that same phone for free or even better. That's the kind of "free" deals I'm talking about
