I'm looking for a new city to live in. I currently live in Milwaukee, but I plan to move within 1-2 years. I've been thinking about this for a while. After crashing my stook a few weeks ago in bad weather I decided it was time for a change. I need to find a good place to live in the US. I'm single with no kids or pets, so moving is relatively easy. I'm in the IT field, so finding another job shouldn't be too painful. I want to find a nice warm(no snow) city. Currently my top choices are Phoenix, Austin, or someplace in Florida.

What do you guys think? Where would you live if you could relocate anywhere in the US?

I moved from Madison, WI to Seattle in '94 and have never looked back. Great economy, beautiful city, good dining, and plenty of companies needing IT. Not as warm as any of the places you mention, however, snow is something we leave for the mountains (which are close enough by for skiing and viewing). You'll hear a lot of nonsense about rain, however, it is not as bad as people like to say it is. In fact, we typically like to hype the rain scenario to keep the Californians out of the state.

Best of luck in your search.

Your single and want fun in the sun...

San Diego, California

Miami, Florida

Like to live indoors and be a hermit... move to Seattle. Although today was pretty nice outside and the building didn't shake.

What folks need to understand is that those from California hang their entire existence on the weather. Of course this is understandable since, after the weather, California descends into a labyrinthian cesspool of despair that would make Dante come off like Jerry Seinfeld.

I second that San Diego nomination. Specifically La Jolla. Too much damn humidity in Florida.

I'd say San Diego. The weather is a dream and it's got lots to do. Only two seasons, spring/fall and summer. Lots of twisties and close to LA. Lots of IT jobs.

Whatever you do don't trade snow for humidity!

Here in St.Louis, August is like January where you
currently live...awful.

Heaven is Carlsbad California.

Do NOT move to Austin. All you will find is great music, lots of job opportunities, twisty back country roads, the world's best Mexican food, and the best group of Stook owners anywhere!
