Best DV camcorder for the buck?
Well, not sure if this will help you, but I found my DV camera today.
I went to CC to look around and found that they still had some of the TRV series cameras NIB, but on clearance. The highest-end one they had left was the TRV-70. It has a Carl Zeiss T* lens (the T* is a special coating on the lens, this much I knew from my experience with digital still cameras.) The T* is the highest quality lens Sony makes for the consumer. It has a two megapixle still camera and a memory stick slot. The view finder is color and the LCD panel is touch-screen. It has night shot and manual focus capabilities.
I got the camera (it comes with cables, charger, one battery, remote control) a Sony Starter Kit (includes a case and one extra battery), 8 cartridges, a Firewire cable (the camera comes with USB, I believe) and the three year protection plan. All this with 24mos 0% financing and out the door with tax, et all was $997.00
CC's clearance price was $12 cheaper than the cheapest place on Pricegrabber.com and when he rang it up, the camera came up as another 10% off that's over $60 MORE in savings.) So that's a little over $40/mo for the next two years, but since it's interest free, who cares?
This was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it is a far superior camera to the current models at the slightly lower price point.
BTW -- There were a 8 stores on Pricegrabber that were asking OVER $1000 for just the camera!
Here is a link to Sony's site with pix of the camera:

(The camera, while larger than some MiniDV cameras out there right now, it is a very nice size IMHO.
Sony no longer offers any specs for this camera on their web store, but here is a link that shows all the specs and features: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...t#goto_itemInfo
Finally this is the link to pricegrabber so you can see the pricing of this camera: http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod...=702013&blsrt=1
