Default Best flat screen TV under $500?

My TV of almost 12 years in my bedroom has finally crapped out. Now I'm looking for a nice flat screen TV with S-video input (for PS2 ) for less than $500.

Any suggestions? I've been looking at Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic.

mingster- are you talking about flat screen or flat panel because the latter don't exist in the $500 price range. I like the Sony Wega's, panasonic makes a good set generally and they tend to be priced below the sony's. but I'm putting off TV purchases until the hdtv's are more mainstream and there's hdtv programing readily available.

hmmm, from 20" to 24", anything larger (27") becomes a lot more expensive.

oo 20-24 in makes more sense, i was like no way he can get a 30in for 500, i personally like the wegas(sp?) by sony, but newer models are comming out from different brands, go to your local best buy and try them out then go somewhere else to buy it.

and don't fall for the extended warranty, there are no moving parts on a tv to wear out, and i hate the thought of buying term life insurance on an appliance.

I would stay away from anything Sony. After years of experience with their newer products failing, I have decided to never buy a sony product again. For TV's I would consider the Panasonic (superflat) and the Toshiba (cinema series). Both have excelent pictures at a very reasonable cost. I've had the 32" Panasonic Superflat for about 3 years now, and it's been fantastic.

If you are already paying that much for a TV in the bedroom......may I ask you what kind of TV you have in the living room?
