Sorry, I would have said MAC :-( However, with all the software available for the clones, I understand why they are the way to go. If you are into video work, the Sony machines are good. I've had mostly Dell notebooks with good results. They tend to be a little large if you get the hottest one, but I've found them to be very reliable. I ordered a Gateway but found the company incompetent at the time. Maybe they have improved. I liked the notebook I played with in their store.

I've been using a PowerBook G4 for the last year. I just got the new 17" screen 1G with DVD burner. It's a little large, though only 1" thick. I use it at work to make videos and it is great with Final Cut Pro 4. I burned 2 DVD's today. A year ago I was still using PC's (I mean IBM clone) but was having lots of problems burning DVD's that would play on many players with all features. The MAC fixed that. I knew it would, I just hated to make the change - TO THE DARK SIDE! I use both PC and MAC, and I've come to appreciate the MAC. I don't bash either one, they have their place.

Dell is pretty much buying market share with pricing... Good machines as well. They change their specials about every week, and often have great deals. Keep checking their web site.

Dell's memory pricing, however, is no bargain. Buy the minimum and upgrade third party. I just bought 1GB of PC21 DDR ram (desktop, not notebook memory) for less than $90...

I heard today that Dell has dropped from number one in their quality-customer satisfaction ratings. Didn't hear who was on top now.
