1800flowers uses local flower stores. They do not stock ANYTHING. I found out what store they use in my area, and go directly to them (70% cheaper) Only use 1800flowers if you are sending them to someone far away. If its local, use local flower shops.

www.flora2000.com
www.ftd.com

Both were reliable in delivering things internationally to my cesky sweetie pie, as advertised and on time. If anything, they're probably coordinated better within the US.

They must have changed recently. I sent my girlfriend two dozen tulips for her birthday last Friday and they were overnighted from Miami, FL to Santa Monica, CA in 6 hours via UPS. The pricing was a little more than a local shop (15% ish), but having the flowers delivered via UPS has its own advantages because bigger offices like hers are all setup for who signs forwhat and how to hand out work packages via UPS. Delivery guys for flowers and food can get pretty confused at her office...

I don't post much on here, more of lurker but this happens be my specialty . I own a floral services company. We write software and do web development strictly for the floral industry. If I can say one thing it is to ignore all the posts about 1800 flowers, FTD, proflowers, etc. All those guys are are middle men, they charge a service charge upwards of $10 that goes straight to their pocket. Next they send your order to a real florist to design and deliver to your sweetie, this florist only gets 70% of the money you spent to fill the order with, maybe less. What do you think they do the to product to compensate for the 30% loss? They curtail the flowers, VERY BAD. Instead look online for a REAL FLORIST that is in the town you want to send flowers to, they will fill your order at 100% value, normally for less money. If you need assistance finding a florist try here ilocalflorist, they make sure a florist is who they say they are and are in the city they say they are in.

The florist industry is in a tight niche with competition from all the big box discounters, their own vendors, and unsavory online types. Whenever possible support your local florist. Small business is good for everybody.

jbeason, you seem to know what you're talking about - good advice. In my case however, I don't have a choice.
