Do research, find a model or two that you want. Then do a search and use shops to compare prices. Look for price matching and sales. You can really score if you have a little patience. Personally I'd only get one from a place that had a physical store even if I got it from their online site, like best buy, circuit city etc. That way if you had a problem you wouldn't have to worry about shipping back and forth.

First of all, I'm a total noob when it come to TV's and entertaining stuff. I'm looking for a Flat screen TV. Not plasma, ( I have heard of a lot of problems with refilling gas) . So I guess HDTV that are thin. For the bed room. And in the price range of under 3,000. Any suggestions? Models and brand names?

Oh IC. Are you talking big screen tho?

Mistubishi has the best rear projection sets. That's what I got. A 55inch gold plus.

If I were buying today I'd get the DLP (digital light processing) TV that Samsung makes. IT's a great price and much smaller than standard rear projection TV's.

I know crutchfield and gateway as well as a lot of physical stores are selling it. My buddy just got one and it's NICE!

Here's gateway's one. I think its the Samsung rebadged

I purchased a 50" Panasonic Plasma from Bestbuyplasma.com earlier this year. Good prices, good service.

I got a 32" phillips a while back at costco for a pretty good price. I've been very happy with the tv so far.

Plasmas will burn out, LCD's cost more but they last, so SOny makes a great 30" LCD. These are two reasons why I bought a heavy CRT HDTV(300lbs). I think a projection is the way to go with you since it's for bedroom so most of your viewing will be at night.
