How much money do you want to spend? I've heard turtle island in Fiji is nice. You can rent a whole island (I think) and the only people on the island would be you and the natives who are tending to you (food, activities, ect..).

I think first you need to tell a little bit about yourself... you want activities? scenery? climate? accomodations?

If you're looking for something laid back & tropical, consider Peter Island in the British Virgin Islands. It's 90 miles east of Puerto Rico. You'll probably have to fly into San Juan and then take a puddle-jumper over to Tortola. Then it's a short ferry ride over to Peter Island. The only thing on the island is the resort & I believe they only have 50 rooms - so it's never crowded. My husband & I were there in June '01 and loved it!

Peter Island

I can second the vote for Fiji. I got married on Oct. 4, 2003, and my wife and I did two weeks in Australia and one week in Fiji. We loved Australia, and I would highly recommend it. Fiji, however, absolutely blew us away. We stayed at a resort called Yasawa. It is near Turtle Island. The resort is the only thing on the island other than 2 native villages that are not very close to the resort. At any time, there were only about 16 guests at the resort. Great food, beautiful beaches, amazing accommodations. You get your own "burre." It's a small house set right on the beach with your own hammock strung between 2 palm trees right on the beach. Paradise. Of all the places we have been, Yasawa was hands down our favorite. Both Yasawa and Turltle Island are expensive, but I believe Yasawa is cheaper. Good luck.

i went to cancun, we wanted something that would both have a nightlife, and have places where we could be laid back and relax.
