I've ordered from ABE's of Maine, and Marine Park with no problems several thousand dollars worth. I have also ordered from B&H also without problems.

I've been mail ordering camera stuff since 1994, well before most camera stores had websites and online ordering.

The only ones that, to this day, are consistently honest and deliver what they promise in my experience have been B&H, Adorama, and Camera World of Oregon.

The others (including some mentioned in this thread), might be slightly cheaper, but they always try to screw you in other ways, like outrageously high shipping costs, items that should be included but they tell you are "optional", giving you grey market items when you expected USA items, a big hassle to return/exchange stuff (and high restocking fees), the list goes on.....

There used to be a good read about this very subject here, but it seems that the author has toned it down to be more politically correct since it was first written in the early '90s. It no longer mentions specific crooked shops by name (it used to be very candid):

This is a good read too:

you get what you pay for. shop online, and pretend you are getting the same deal for much less at some place called Cameras4You4Cheaper.biz, and you are a fool about to part with some money. Why are people so stupid? Hell, these same people would go to some store called "Fly-by-Night Electronics" and later complain they bought a POS grey-market camera that they can't service :shakeshead:

I'd much rather pay more than I needed to, and get my money's worth.
