Whether the Bible is fiction or nonfiction does not depend on what you believe. It is either fact or else it is not fact;what you believe is irrelevant.
Having said that, how can anyone prove that what is in the bible is factual? Until it is proven otherwise peoples belief and faith is what makes it fact to them. People whom chose not have a belive in the bible can not accept it as fact, so to them it
[QUOTE=Drunken_Monk,Mar 28 2005, 01:16 PM] I would really have to disagree. In this life time we will never find out if the stories are based upon actual events.

I have to say fiction for one (seasonally correct) reason, People dont die and come back to life 3 days later, it just doesn't happen. For that reason I say fiction, for this going into the politics section I say bon voyage!
Based on actual events. . . .
and as far as anything else. . . you don't have to look too deep into the history of the early church to see that some things were messed with, omitted, added, etc.
The council of Nicea were paving the road to Hell with good intentions. . . .
Go read some Kierkegaard, and tell me what happens next.

If I had to guess I would say some is based on real events and some is pure fiction.
Is the Bible fact or fiction? The answer is YES. Now what % is based on real events and what % is fiction is debatable.
