Star Trek was probably responsible for more rocket scientists than Star Wars.so, I guess if you consider men with pocket protectors and black rimmed glasses nerdy, than probably Star Trek holds that title. BTW, I've seen every Star Trek episode from when it first premiered in the late '60s on through syndication. Spock was my favorite character. I've also seen all Star Trek the Next Generation episodes and all of the Star Trek and Star Wars movies. I guess I'm more of a Trekker though because that was the original.
Probably one of the funniest things I ever saw was when William Shatner was a guest host on Saturday Night Live and they had a skit where he was the featured guest at a Star Trek convention and all the audience was dressed up as different Star Trek characters and Shatner looks out at the crowd and tells them to "Get a life".

I'm not sure if it's because my tastes have changed, or the content has changed, but I had become more and more bored with the Star Trek t.v. series (all of them). It just seems like a soap opera in space more than an adventure like in the older series.

I think it was originally supposed to be a "Bonanza" type show of the future. Plus, aren't all of these types of shows soap opera like?

I actually like the "space station" shows, like Space: 1999, Babylon 5 and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I dunno what it is about them that makes me like them, maybe the fact that it's the "story comes to the station" kinda theme

Star Trek TNG (the next generation) was my favorite. I don't know why, but I acutally liked watching them. Deep Space Nine and Voyager were good as well.
