not that i need to lose any weight, but losing 20 pounds in 7 days is easy...for me that is. i can easily lose 3-4 pounds a day, if and when i need to, and have done it on several occasions in the past.

It's pretty messed up. I caught part of the show, and they fail to tell the people that much of that weight is water weight. Anyone can lose 5-20lbs of water, but you are really only going to lose 1-5lbs of fat per week if you do it safely. Sure, you could lose more, but you will soon stall and hit a major plateau. Then, the yo-yo dieting begins.

This is going to skew people's ideas of weight loss vs. fat loss and how to do it correctly.

But hey, maybe it will bring more attention to the obesity epidemic in our country. Which, of course, could be taken care of if people did a few simple things:

1) Stop eating fast food
2) Avoid fried food
3) Stop eating so much sugar, soda, etc.
4) Eat a balanced diet consisting of lean meats, fruits, veggies and some grains (whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, whole grain brown rice).
5) Drink a lot more water (skip the sodas, milk and other crap!)
6) EXERCISE! (weight training is key to building muscle and burning fat. Some cardiovascular exercises are good for the heart, but weight training is the real key)
7) Stop being lazy

Should I go on?

I can sit back and laugh at these people and not feel bad (although I would feel bad, and not do this in normal day-to-day life) These people are on a show about them being fat. Why? Who wants fame this much?

I do not feel bad for these people on this show, I do feel bad for thier weight problems and all that is associated with it, but dont feel bad about laughing at them. Seriously that one guy had huge bitch titties.

I'll go on for you.

Diet and Exercise is key. But the only problem area worth paying attention to is the one between the ears. Unless you get started, motivated, keep it going and make it a part of your lifestyle, all the diet fads and muscle mag reading you do will not matter.

I don't like using the word "Diet". Diet implies that it's temporary. If you change the way you eat, you change the way you do things, you change your body.
More tips:

GET OFF THE SCALE. 10 lbs of muscle looks WAY better than 10 lbs of fat. Unless you take the time to find out your body composition, don't bother looking at that d@mn scale every week. A 170 lb athlete looks a whole lot better than a 170lb couch potato.

EAT MORE (Often). When I tell people I eat 6x a day they trip out. The science behind this is the smaller portions spread out 2-3 hours apart giving the body a constant energy level, keeping the metabolism working throughout the day.

SET SMALL GOALS. Make them realistic. A loss of 2lbs a week is realistic, more if you are grossly overweight.

THE H3ll WITH COUNTING CARBS. Pick GOOD carbs and manageable portion sizes.

Your body changes when you do something to it that it's not used to doing. You start lifting weights, your body will adapt to lifting weights, by building muscle to build strength to lift those weights.
