I am going to be asking for a digital camera for my birthday. End of March. I gotta keep the price under 300 for sure. I would actually like it to stay below 250 but I not sure if that is gonna be a waste of money at that point.

I want to be able to get enough pictures on a disk an to get it to my computer easily! I know that the floppy's arent that great to use.

Can anybody help?

In getting your pictures to your computer USB is the best way to go. Plug the camera in and "whap" in lightning speed you can transfer the pics.

I would go with a 2.1 mega pixel camera. I upgraded from an older Panasonic camera with 640x480 resolution and was tired of the grainy pics. I went with the canon S100 because of its size and I'm very happy with the quality. It was 750 here in Toronto but I have no idea of the going prices of camera's over there.

Most camera come with an 8 meg CF card good for about 10 pics at a good resolution. Therefore I bought a 64 meg card that gives me about 100 pictures before I have to dump. This may be an issue for you and you might want to give it some consideration in the price. Hope this helps a little

Big fan of the Sony (I'm sure that'll make you laugh) CyberShots. They use Memory Sticks, have direct USB connection, or you can use a USB MemoryStick reader. Works great. Not sure if one fits in your budget though.

In that price range, the 1.3 Megapixel Olympus cameras take great pictures. I don't know if the 2.1 MP cameras have come down that far yet, haven't checked in a few months. I do recommend the Olympus cameras, though; myself and three of my co-workers either currently have them or had one as our first camera and for the price they really do take nice pics.

Guys, he can't get most of those cameras for the price range he specified.
Pinky, if you don't need 2+megapixels, you can try an olympus one at lower resolution.
If you want 2.1 megapixel, you can take a look at the one from HP.
Don't be too picky for 250 bucks.........

If you can spend around 400 bucks and you don't have real big hands, Canon S100 is highly recommended.

For around $450, I'll sell you my Nikon CoolPix 880. 3.4MP with a host of other features. It's new, still in the box it came in, never opened.

I actually have two of these because I mail ordered my first one, and UPS f**ked up. Then I went out ot Circuit City and bought one. Circuit City wouldn't take the one I bought from them back without assessing me a loss of 20% restocking fee, and no tax back, AND only refunded with store credit even though I have the receipt.

They won't accept the one I ordered from CameraWorld.com because the "serial number on the camera and the box don't match the serial numbers don't match what's on the receipt" Apparently, Circuit city, best buy, and such are allotted camera's like how Nokia allots their phones to different digital phone service providers.

Email me if interested.

My top choices. Only problem is that 2 of them have like no info! Can anybody tell me which is the best picture taker of the group. I read it all but im not going super high quality. Im looking to take nice shots maybe pick the best ones and print them out but probably just to send them over the net.
thanks.

Out of those 3, the 460 is a winner hands down. I was looking at the 460 model when I first started shopping for a digi-cam. I eventually bumped up in the camera range to get something that can grow with me as my skills grow. But the 460 was definitely a top choice before going to the 3.4 MP.

I started with the 360, about two months after I got it, Costco started carying the 460 and my two friends bought 460s. Definitely go with the 460 if you can, an optical zoom is so much better than just a digital zoom. As far as picture quality, I've printed 8x10s from pictures that I've taken with my 360 and they look pretty good. They're definitely good enough to use as wallpaper at 1024x768. If you click on the link in my signature, it leads to one of the pics (sized down to 640x480) I took with my 360.
