^^ Can't access t mobile's 3g using the iPhone.. frequencies are different. Only voice and data over edge so it doesn't make much sense to spend extra $$ for the 3g.

I understand that... you will always be running on the edge network... but the 3gs look nicer IMHO

^^ Seems like he's trying to get a phone without a contract, otherwise I would certainly recommend the mytouch.

Otherwise, you could look into an iPhone. My bro runs jail broken 1st gen on t mobile and likes it.
What does this "Jailbroken" term mean Lol.

The Storm that I may get is loaded with the updated software that supposidly worked out the bugs and it will have "Bolt" on it for web browsing along with a bunch of other apps. Though it is unlocked my boss who is selling me the phone said it will work well on T-Mobile network with the newr software otherwise he would not even recommend the phone to me.

to put it simply... Tmobile requires the use of a "sim card" ... verizon phones do not have a place to put a simcard... therefore you cannot use it... tell your boss to lay off the crack. And unlocking a phone is basically getting through provider security so that you can use it with a different provider. Im tellin ya.... get an Iphone and unlock it, or buy one that is already unlocked or "jailbroken" all you will have to do is put your sim card in, change a few network settings (the new settings you will need you can get from Tmobile CSR over the phone) and be on your way. I had a 1st gen unlocked for Tmobile for 2 years and loved it! Only got rid of it bc I bought a house where it was a Tmobile deadzone.

ATT phones can be unlocked to be used on the T-mobile network and vise-versa

Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular are not GSM, so the phones cannot be used with Tmobile or ATT.
You're right for the most part:

"ATT phones can be unlocked to be used on the T-mobile network and vise-versa

Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular are not GSM, so the phones cannot be used with Tmobile or ATT."

But the Storm is an exception, it does have a sim slot, so once the phone is unlocked it can be used on ATT or T-mobile, but the appropriate "books" need to be downloaded to get it work properly.

Most people have not been able to get internet on it on ATT or T-mobile, only have been able to get voice and sms, not sure about mms either. Also it will only run on edge and not 3G and since it doesn't have wifi, all you're stuck with is a normal phone that just calls out and receives sms, looks nice, and is exteremely slow, unreliable and glitchy.

Check out craigslist and you can see the number of unloced storms running on ATT and T-mobile.

I know because I have ATT and have an iPhone 3GS and I was trying to get a BB Storm as a backup because they can be had for as low as $150 now, but have heard nothing but horrible things about it so I stopped my search. The G1 sucks too, it's one of the ugliest looking phones I have ever seen.

I would pick up a Blackberry Bold or a cheap Blackberry Curve (great phone) I really liked my old one. I also had a HTC Tilt, really bulky and slow so I sold that as well.

I just picked up a really cheap unlocked Samsung Blackjack 2 for a spare phone and it's a decent phone for what I paid for it but WinMo sucks compared to iPhone but I like being able to run Skype without having to be on wifi at work and if i drop the blackjack or lose it on my weekend getaways I won't be too worried about it.

I had the Storm 3 days after it came out with the original software and shitty touch screen. It was slow and horrible to use.

I returned it.

I lost my phone a few months ago and gave the "Updated" storm a try. It works as its supposed to and is fantastic. I love blackberrys now. The little red blinking light for messages, all the apps, the ability to run so many programs at once... the touch screen (avoids the usual mess ups since you have to press) - its pretty good. Spend some time with one as there is a learning curve... but when you get it down its great! Oh.. it has a 3.2megapixel camera too...
