It's called "Black" Friday because it's the day that most retailers begin a period of being "in the black". That's what they say anyway.
No, they call it "Black" because that's when the black shoppers run around like maniacs to shop. Oh wait! Whites, Asians, and others also do that, so that theory goes out the window. There was also a Black Monday when the stock plummeted.

Anyway, I was just kidding with all that stuff. But some words, like blackmail, do make me wonder.

I used to work at a Sharper Image store on Long Island and on black friday we would do about $125,000 in sales and that was with no products on sale.

they refer to it as black friday bc we lose money on products sold at the store. we basically give it to you at the price the store pays for it. the only way they make money are services, service plans, and attachments.

"Black Friday" was originally so named because of the heavy traffic on that day, although most contemporary uses of the term refer instead to it as the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit). Black Friday has only ranked as the busiest shopping day of the year once in history (2005). Typically that awards goes to the Saturday before Xmas, and the other days leading up to xmas.

I used to be the king of black friday. I remember when I was in Sacramento I saw the same people at Circuit city every year for 3 years .

They don't have anything I need to frenzy about this year so I may avoid the whole thing.

When I used to do it though it was so fun. It was competition to get the rare items.

Some stores have incited great policies to keep cheaters in line like handing out vouchers for the most coveted items to the people in line so that someone can't just push their way in at 630 when people have been waiting 3-4 hours.

Sounds like a complete waste of time.. why wait in line for 3-4 hours to save a few hundred bucks when you could pull tricks on the corner, make double, and have fun in the process???

Man I only wish I was back home for black friday, my kicks come from hang out with a family member who is a police officer and geting to watch some of the wild arrests. We almost never make it into the stores, people get into fist fights in the lines, pull guns, all sorts of stuipd shit that really makes you question peoples humanity. I could understand if their families were starving to death and that was the only way to get food, but no, look at them effing B-friday shoppers, desparation for greed, GG...

Reminds me of that line from a dave chappelle show, so im gonna drive by in my new M3 and yall to the Black friday shoppers "Look out, theres poor people round yall!!"
