Blackhawk Down...holy cow
Went to see it last night. Incredibly powerful movie. Those of you who have served in the military will really appreciate this film. Those of you who don't remember the fiasco in Somalia definitely need to go see it. I haven't been this moved/fired up by a movie since the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan.
I was going to post something about this movie....
It was incredibly hard to sit thru this movie - not a fun night at the ol' Cineplex 16. But everyone, and i mean
everyone, should see this movie. They should show this in every highschool/college history classroom. When and if you do see this movie, be prepared to be frusturated and angry - then go out and do what you can so it won't happen again....

I haven't seen this movie, but I want to see it. But be sure to realize that this movie has some dramatic effects, and I'm sure has some inaccuracies.
Did anyone see that they have a bootleg copy in Somalia? As fired up as "we" are, they are the same. I find that interesting. They interviewed some of the Somalian people, and those talked to didn't feel it represented what really went on. I have no idea, I wasn't there. But yes, they did cheer anytime an American was killed in the movie. So Somalia still has no love for us, what a surprise!! Here's the CNN report.

It wasn't the best. . . But it was entertaining. I personally was way more engrossed by the history channel's documentary on the events and the interviews with the people that were actually there. It's 2 hours of battle scenes which did interest me, but failed to interest me in the characters. I wish the history channel could have used footage from the movie for recreations, that would have been the most entertaining.
oh, and don't see the movie with a bad hangover like i did. It's not very quiet. I bet it'll make a fantastic DVD

I haven't seen the movie, but did they include the Navy P-3 that was doing low passes trying to draw fire away from the Rangers, or the Air Force's AC-130 crew that would'nt fly because of thier "duty day" was over (while the guys on the ground were getting shot-up)?
The History channel's "Real Story of Black Hawk Down" was very well done, and included many interviews with the Somali's.
