Yeah, black people deserve reperations. Affirmative action was/is a good thing. I grew up in Mississippi and saw the results of injustice toward the people whose ancestors had been brought as slaves. The US has a rich history of abusing non white people (Ancestors of slaves from Africa , Japanese, Mexicans, Native Americans).
i feel for those who were mistreated in the past...but demanding things for atrocities committed generations ago? i'm not so sure about that....MOST of those ppl only know what they READ about and have no real idea what happened to those unfortunate ppl.. my black friends (who are plentiful) don't agree with it either....they think as i do...no freebies in life. if you want something, work for it just like the rest of us. to those families that were DIRECTLY affected, yeah that is definitely another story.
I think we deserve SOME reparations... but I did NOT like one of the speeches where a young black woman was talking about how they owe her CHILD SUPPORT and shit... that just made me mad... oh well....

True people of african ancestry who's ancestors were brought to the US as slaves currently have not experienced what happened, are still feeling the after effects. I had an easy life thanks to my parents having freedom. My dad is an exceptional man. The problem is that the result of being pushed down has reduced a disproportinate number of these peoples to living just to survive. Living poor can lead to many negative things...ie...escapism using substances, criminal action to just get nice things. It's the easiest way to get things fast, and if people you know are doing it and getting away with it, and you really don't know any better because you are surrounded by it...then that's a good way to go. I know this may be confabulated. Let me explain a little. Growing up in Mississippi in an upper middle class neighborhood I was severly racist. My neighbors were good "god fearing" people who were markedly racist. I knew no better so I followed suit. As I grew up I learned that these people I feigned hating were sweet and friendly and helpful and had much to offer. I dropped my racism. That's not to say that there are not classless, stupid people of that background, but there are that kind of people in any racial background. In the end it's just that if you and I were equally matched to run a relay race, and someone made me wait 3 minutes while you ran (oppression) and then let me go, I'd not be able to catch you. When I handed the stick to the next person (next generation) he/she would start off behind and unless they were much better than your 2nd generation they would pass to the next person in a negative place...
