Default Blocked internet sites

It finally happened... IT decided to block Ebay today. Of course they're a bunch of teases - they let employees get to ebay.com, do a search or browse, but as soon as you try opening an auction - no such luck. Bastids!

Yahoo mail, hotmail, and excite mail have been blocked for some time now. I probably run into the "Internet Access Restrictions" page 5 times a day It's not like I'm looking for porn, I'm pretty sure I could get that quite easily. I'm just waiting for s2ki to disappear...

So what "vital" internet sites have been blocked by your Fascist IT regimes?

well, all the porn sites but you're already stated that.
I get blocked from screensavershot.com but not wapers.com (wallpaper affiliate of the aforementioned website) so I don't understand what up w/ that. Sounds like your IT people really suck. Our internet gestapo isn't as bad as yours... yet.

Can you still check weather.com? Man, they must really want you to work and stay on task!

Yeah, the weather sites and sports sites are all still ok. I'm really not sure what their criteria for blocking a site is - bandwidth usage, perhaps?

The internet email thing is supposedly for virus reasons...

Try ebay.aol.com, they blocked ebay.com from us over year ago, but this was still open.

I am the head of IT at my company and we don't block much of anything. Unless there is a dip in productivity like since I discovered this forum we don't worry about it. We do block instant messaging and few other sites but hey I can just purge my stuff out of the logs and they'll never know about s2ki and if they do I will just route myself around.

have you tried their binary numbers yet...

put one of these set of numbers in the address bar of your browser then hit go. Some proxy type programs do not exclude the binary numbers from its list.
