boot.ini
i want to edit the boot.ini file. where is it located?? i did a search for "boot.ini" on my HD and the only search result i got was the "boot.ini.backup" file. is this the file i am looking for?? if not, where is it??
It's on the root of your C: drive. It's a read-only, hidden system file. Change your folder view preferences to see it.
Sounds like you're not all that familiar with this sort of thing though. Be careful, if you get something wrong your computer will fail every time it tries to boot.

oh, i'm not planning on doing anything too advanced. i have 2 different operating systems installed onto my computer, and i just want to change the default operating system that the computer boots up if i don't actively choose one at bootup.

you are probably best editing it in my computer/properties, advanced tab, startup&recovery button. there is a button there to edit the file manually.
