Well, not knowing which type of Mac it is, I can at least tell you for Maximizing window it's the same as windows, but on the opposite side of the window.
Removing file from trash: click and hold and pull it out onto the desktop.
Empting the trash: Look inthe menu bar at the top of the screen.
Removing disk: drag folder to trash, or I believe it's also in menu bar up top.
Putting to sleep: just press button on computer, or go to menu bar and click sleep. (same with shutting it down)

HOpe I could help (that's all I remember from owning a mac)

i work with Macs everyday & even have one at the house now, i'm no expert by any stretch, but i'll be glad to assist if i can. please provide some specifics as to what OS you're running (8.x, 9.x, X), what kind of mac you have (G3, G4, G5, Powerbook, iMac), and specific questions....

as far as just getting started, there should be a button on the front of the computer, typically with a broken circle on it that has a straight line pointing upward at the 12 o'clock position,.... press that to turn on the computer

once it has turned on fully, click the apple logo in the upper left corner of the menu bar at the top of your screen, traditionally you will see "About This Mac" as the first option, click on that to find out information about YOUR Mac...

to open a file/folder/program, just like in windows, you double-click the icon

to change the name of a file, just click on the title, once to highlight it and again to rename (in OS X)

to maximize/minimize a window, click on the the + at the top left of the window you want to maximize or

The solutions to all your problems is to run OS X and get a two-button mouse. A Windows user can get well situated in just a few minutes with the GUI.

If you are running OS 9, then you're on your own, son.

Your responses helped a lot...This was for an assignment for my fiance'. I know it is simple, although the last time I used a Mac, was back in High School...I remember the single click and special thing, although most of normal procedures are blurry.

Thanks for the help,

EMD

This may help as well: http://www.apple.com/switch/questions/

Using a new Mac w/ OS X is usually a pretty blissful geek experience...

In my free time, I get paid to help people troubleshoot Mac-related issues... PM me for some free online support, if you have any questions or need any assistance.
