so with Border's filing for Bankruptcy, will B&N follow? i heard a figure that in a few years, 50% of all books will be electronic..
just wanted to vent because i hate electronic books.. id rather have the hardcopy, just because ive been accustomed to it and like having the books in my room.. only upside to this i can see is if i switch to electronic (which i probably will), no more of a mess with books.
there's also only 1 bookstore in my local area, which is Border's.. was a nice place to hang out..

Reading books on an E-Ink display is great.. its freakish how much it looks like actual printed text on a page. Still no replacement for the real thing though..
They are closing 200 of their 500 superstores. these 200 stores lose a combined $2 million every week. lol.

Problem is books are just too pricey, I know why they are pricey but people get tired of paying $30-$50 for one time reads and with all the electronic media we have nowadays reading a FULL book is becoming a lost art.

i have a kindle and think it's awesome. i got a lot of regular books too, but it's so nice having this thing. can buy books whenever i want (don't have to go to store or wait 3 days for shipping), they're cheaper, i have tons of books at my disposal rather than 1-2 at a time, looks the same as a real book, is lighter, etc, etc.
the only negative, and it's a big negative, is that not all of the books i want to read are available in kindle format. sure you can find all of the top-sellers...but a lot of the smaller categories not so much. they need to do something about that.

It's kind of ironic now, think of how many mom and pop neighbourhood book stores got put out of business by companies like Borders, now they can't even stay in business and a book store is getting hard to find.
