Yeah, I posted a few comments in that thread, but there's just so much shortsightedness and bias that I gave up. After HillB's comment about all the flaming that goes on over here (NOT) I realized it was hopeless.
I'd like to say, however, that I have met lots of cool people though PCA. *shrug*

Well, it's full of the typical arrogance that Porsche folks are unfortunately known for.
I almost posted something there, but it's just not worth it. They have their cars, they love their cars, I'm happy for them. Let them have their cars in peace. And let's make sure our debate never sinks to such an arrogant level, such as what was displayed for all to see there.
It's just not worth trying to convince the unconvinceable of anything. I have said this a bunch of times here and other places that without exception, all the OLDER Porsche guys I have met at all the various track events I did this year were ALWAYS complimentary and excited about seeing my car. I mean everything from GT-3's to 996's to old 911 race cars...awesome guys who love cars. This is the exact opposite of the attitude that I see on that thread...it's a werid phenomenon. And very few, like maybe TWO Boxsters at the 14 track events I did this year...but oodles of other Porsches, which I love btw...I even like the Boxster! It's not my favorite car, but I most certainly admire it for what it is. I could have got a Boxster, but I prefer the raw, in-your-face hardcore sports car feel of the S2000...it totally, I mean perfectly, suits my style and personality.
I just let them live in peace...I see no reason to try to change their minds. I think it's futile. I did find it interesting that one of those guys was talking about all of hard core driving etc...and then he said he's never been to a race track...he sounds like the typical poseur who bought the car cuz of the Stuttgart badge on the front. Sad...
Anyway, another pathetic display of bad attitude from our Porsche Brethren...a few bright spots, but overall, it's just sad. Oh well!

Sad, Greg, but it had to be said!
I'd like to see them try to badger their M3 brethren about having to "rev way up there" to get the last 50 hp from that new 333 hp engine.

Clovis, I think you hit it dead on here.
Its not really about the money, its about having a fun car and enjoying it. My roomie doesn't know how to drive standard, nor does he like cars or know about em at all. But when we're out and about, all he can say is, "This is a fun car, and I'm just the passenger!"
The threads over at the Boxster board reinforce my belief that the Porche groups compare the thickness of their checkbooks instead of being a car enthusiast. Of course, there are many exceptions out there, and there are many great Porche drivers out there that do not have things to 'prove' among their peers.
Its all about being behind the wheel, not about buying the car.
