Boxster Board is At it Again!
I would shoot myself in the head if C3 decided to use that POS software they have on Pete's board...man, what crap!
Phooey!
Should we start another thread here called "Our forum is better than YOUR forum...nyah nyah nyah" ?!?!

pfffttt.. my sentra will whoop any s2k or Boxster S... why do people care so much... the s2000 has it's own allure just as a Boxster S does... anything can be built to be faster/better for a lot less money than either. For me the s2000's looks are the real alluring part, and the high revving engine I am partial too over any grunting slow revving high torque motor... just my opinions and desires....
I've been to several track events HOSTED by the Porsche Owners Club in So. Cal. and there's been nothing but comraderie and mutual respect between myself, the other S2K owners there, and the Porsche people. I think Greg has seen similar attitudes at the events he's been at in Chicago. It seems obvious to me that the people who post this crap aren't real car enthusiasts and probably don't spend much time pushing their cars at or near it's limits, on the street or the track. They do Porsche owners a disservice with these types of posts. I'm glad we aren't equally as closed minded.
A separate Boxster Board thread refers to the 0-60 4.9 sec time in the January Road&Track:

What shocked me on that board the few times I have been there is how little commraderie there seems to be and how whenever there is a discussion of the S they seem to want to grab onto the 'magnificent' intangibles of their car. 20K for intangibles! If that means that you pay 20K to have Porsche on the side of your vehicle fine.
I'll stay with my econobox S!

.......oh and by the way is that the worst bb you have ever seen, you think they would take all that cash they have and upgrade to something easier to read.

And if were talking paychecks.. What would you rather have, the most expensive Honda or the cheapest Porsche?
Doesn't make a difference to me but if these guys want to think they are in a different league then the rest of us why didn't they buy a 911?
If I was a billionare I would still own an S2K (among many others
) and I gaurantee you would still see my name here.

I read this entire thread. As to be expected, it was a real mix, but it would be unfair to characterize these posters as snobs or jerks. Many posts were quite reasonable and tried to be objective. I think if we had a similar thread here we'd see the same kind of mix.
This car competition stuff, frankly, reminds me of penus envy. It's pointless.
I happen to think the S2000, based on my personal criteria, is a far better car than a Boxter. I happen to like driving a high-revving car that requires out-of-the ordinary driver skill to extract its best performance. But I can recognize that many Boxter owners want to sit comfortably on their asses and not be challenged
.
So I have to recognize that there are many good arguments on both sides of the equation.
