this is true. the body's activities slow down due to the colder temperature. although it might seem that you are "dead", your body is essentially going into hibernation. I do not remember what the "time of life" amount is for water submersion but since it was colder water the body does have a better chance of surviving. it's one of the body's ways of protecting yourself. now if it wasn't really cold water... divine intervention could be a possibility

anyway it's nice that he lived!

I have my doubts the kid is going to be 100% normal after this. Only time will tell and it is, of course, better than him being dead either way.
