Brutal in Japan....
Wonder if they will over react like our Mensa members in office and ban knives and swords like they do here with our guns.
Given the how large the population is, a few people being killed is not surprising.

Japan doesn't sell guns readily, so that's probably why they kill with knives or saw or other sharp things.
And they don't have enough remote places to dump the body, so that's probably why they dismember the body into little pieces.
It maybe gruesome, but compare to the gun violence and violences throughout US, it's probably not even a fraction of a percent.
It's sensationalized since they don't have people killing other people's that much like in US.

along with the US, Japan's "Modern" lifetime is relatively short. Up until the victorian era, Japan was still fuedal and based on ancient forms of law and justice. there are probably some deeply rooted teachings and mindsets in that country that are causing conflicting morality and judgement in its people.
I think there are some that are trying to return to the ancient ways of life as a protest to the modern Japanese life and society.
For us outside looking in we see movies like The Last Samurai and other windows into that culture and think that ancient Japanese culture is highly idealistic and stylized and romantic in its honor codes and structure. In reality, ancient Japan was extremely brutal and remorseless and swift in its judgment and delivery of retribution/justice.
IMHO the way some of those crimes were described, it sounds like some of these people are reverting back to that way of dealing with issues they feel needed retribution or justice. The kids exposed to this sub-culture may be confused and having difficulty finding their own identity.
its a stretch, but there is a movement in that country that rebels against the modern ways. maybe these crimes are tell-tell signs that the movement is becoming more visible.
