Well at least he'll be well cared for and fed for the rest of his years. If he's released and caught again he may end up being dinner.

[QUOTE] People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent Wholey a letter asking him to work with the group to release Bubba back in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Maine.

Another group calling itself People For Eating Tasty Animals reportedly offered Wholey a hefty price for the lobster.

There has been alot of research (and many of it hitting the news just a few weeks ago) about how lobsters are nothing more than insects of the ocean. As are all crustacians (sp?), hence the name mud-bugs for crayfish.
What I mean is, there is an ongoing (no, I dont know who funds this shit) study to see if lobsters actually feel pain.

We step on, swat at, throw shoes at all other insects, why not eat a big, 22lb insect.

apparently he died in transport of stress. they were trying to help him relax by transporting him in a nice, warm, "bubbly" aromatherapy bath scented with garlic, shallots, and white wine.

somewhere along the way his tail was misplaced.

Last year, a 14-pound lobster named Hercules that was rescued by a Washington state middle school class died before it could be released off the coast of Maine.
Why the crap do you think they tried to transport it to Maine? Can lobsters not live in Washington state?
