There has been alot of research (and many of it hitting the news just a few weeks ago) about how lobsters are nothing more than insects of the ocean. As are all crustacians (sp?), hence the name mud-bugs for crayfish.
What I mean is, there is an ongoing (no, I dont know who funds this shit) study to see if lobsters actually feel pain.

We step on, swat at, throw shoes at all other insects, why not eat a big, 22lb insect.
to be a pain in the ass, he's not technically an insect.

however, people (humans) tend to place value on the extreme of anything. We value an Enzo more than a Kia b/c it's "more extreme". We like a F22 more than a Cesna for the same reason.

friends? what friends? he was 100 yrs old. all his friends died before WWII.

it's not like he could be friends with the young lobsters... considering he was 50x larger than most of them.

no, he died of lemon-butter sautee.

apparently he died in transport of stress. they were trying to help him relax by transporting him in a nice, warm, "bubbly" aromatherapy bath scented with garlic, shallots, and white wine.

somewhere along the way his tail was misplaced.
