You are competing against big players. I thought I would sell bike parts a while back. Hell the price I would pay for 100 bike tubes at a time was just barely below what BIKE NASHBAR sold them to the public for. they buy 50,000 at a time.
goodluck.
I get most of my bike stuffs from ebay these days

how the hell does someone make any decent $ though by selling shit that cheap on ebay?
how do they buy it so cheaply?
My son-in-law is a very active e-bay seller (while being a college law student). Pretty funny, they offered him group heath insurance.
His bread-and-butter is he works hard to get concert tickets (stand in lines/log-in early/get friends to help) and scalps them. His motivation is mostly to get free (paid by profits) tickets for himself and friends. The other thing he does is find odd things that can be purchased in volume for much lower prices and re-sells them.
One recent "score" was a batch of five safes (haven't seen them yet but some sort of small house safe). He sold four on e-bay and kept the fifth for 'free' based on his profits ont he others.
The latest was X-Boxes. Yep, he (and friends) stood in line solely for the purpose of re-selling what he got. We're talking about $500+ profits on the first several units he sold. I made nearly $300 on the last unit he sold (that my wife waited in line with him to get).
I think the theme is he recognizes what can be sold at a profit and works hard to obtain them. I do not know how often he gets stuck with some merchandise he can't move at a profit but it doesn't seem like a problem.

^^^ Cool. Back in the day I used to sell all dragon ball, dragon ball z, dragona ball gt episodes when they didnt even have them in the U.S. yet. I made maybe $15,000 on ebay before ebay suspended my account. I used to sell them on about 25 cds for about $200 a set. Killer profit, I'm only mad at myself for not selling a lot more when I easily could have sold maybe 10x more because the demand was insane... I was just too lazy. So, ideas like that
