I traveled every week for years and never cheated on my wife. I've never paid for it either.

I don't travel for work and I don't cheat.

The OP never said anything about marital status.

I could see how a corporate guy, just going through a messy divorce, working out of town could have thoughts....

What's wrong with it? Well... aren't women forced into this 'industry' in most of those countries? Just the thought of that turns me off.... Let alone paying for it... If you were even remotely comfortable meeting women, why would ever... ever... pay for it? It's completely giving up on yourself. How can anyone even get excited knowing that someone is only f-ing them because they are paying money for it?

I'm not hating, I just feel bad for the guys that are in this position.

forced into this? WHAT woman in the world would choose this as their primary profession? of course they're all "forced" into this, either by drug habits, mostly money troubles, or other social issues. if by force you meant "slavery" type, well, i don't think that bodes well for the trade anywhere.

i suggest talking with one of them before passing any judgments.

as for why people pay for it: not everyone got the brad pitt look, and some people do it out of sheer economics: even if you're "comfortable" meeting women, the amount of money spent on the "hunt" or the "dating game" will never guarantee a lay, let alone one that was designed to pleasure you.

just my 2 cents.

I can't imagine even trying it.

For starters, I'm happily married and cheating is the last thing on my mind.

Secondly, especially in a 2nd or 3rd world country, I'd be scared to death of getting some sort of STD or whatever. The idea of having sex with a woman that does it for BUSINESS (all the time) is just revolting to me...

Yes, forced into it as in slavery. Many times they are still children when they are sold off by their parents. The majority get into it because they are from a depressed economy and want to get rich (what they consider rich). I've done business travel for months to some of these countries. I went to the bars. I knew the girls. I never touched them, and I never in my life paid for it. It is plenty easy to find girls outside of those places. Plus, hey, you're a rich Westerner. Many of they will have sex with you, likely the first time, just in the hope you will marry them afterwards. Free and not slutty is always better.

I imagine a lot of woman do it by choice, in the U.S. at least.. A hooker in vegas can make $500k-$1 mill per year..

In some nations young kids are kidnapped and thrown right into the brothels and prostitution rings. In other countries, it's just like going to a strip bar...

Hey it was just speculation < sarcasm > but you're right, if it is drugs, the economy of the country etc. then it's totally cool to take advantage of that < / sarcasm >

There's a lot of hookers especially the high priced ones in the US that do it because it's an easy living for them.

Mingster, you don't need a 'look'...(trust me, I am the worst looking guy in this thread) that's probably where most guys make bad assumptions and never see their true worth or get the confidence to get the girl.... I think you missed my point entirely, it has nothing to do with economics in my mind... the simple fact someone is only spending time with you because you're paying them to... for me.... would not be the least bit exciting sexually. If I'm paying someone they better be washing my car, cleaning the house, doing my taxes or providing some skilled service that I cannot convince someone to do for free.

Besides, how much does "the hunt" really cost? $3.15 for a latte? $20 at a bar? Free dog walking in the park? There are on average probably 50+ encounters we have with the opposite sex every day... to call it a hunt makes it sound much more daunting than it truly is. You could easily meet a woman in the time it would take you just to find a cat house and park... all it takes is a little courage.
