I went to UCI and I don't understand. Hard work is all it takes. I never had to cheat in order to compete with the Asians and Indians. In fact, I stood out in the classes because I was not Asian or Indian

you will get caught by a program called "turnitin" which a majority of professors now use to catch plaigerism. ive turned in a paper through "turnitin" and it catches everything. it uses percentages and it even highlights questionable phrases.

 

Actually the grammar is fine. The commas are not necessary. The usage is colloquial but intentional.

For example:
What has become of America?
There you see what has become of America.

Perhaps this is more correct:
There you see "what has become of America."

Whatever. Cheater!

 

must be an exception to the norm then... i was class of 05. when i was there, each class had its seperate groups. fobs, jocks, frat guys, each had their own system of getting thru tests, busy work, projects etc... each group would have lotsa unfair advantages compared to someone that played it straight... i would love to discuss what they did, but i dont want to implicate anyone...

ever hear of "econ guy" aka eric, when you were there?

but also, what i meant was...due to the high number of students, mostly asian and indian, competition is fierce. there is less grade inflation because it is a public school. it drives people to seek unfair advantages.

compared to stanford, where everyone knows it is really hard to get below a C and you can drop a class on the day of the final with no reprocussions... its easy to see why some people do the things they do...

the guy taht runs it is the man... helped me get my econ degree. he also makes more money than any of the professors LOL.
