Default CA and Car Title Question

I was wondering if anyone here could answer a question for me.

If you bought a car w/ a salvage title from an insurance company, you would own the title.

Now if you remove the parts you wanted from the car and then parted out the rest of the car to others, who would own the title?

Meaning which part of the car does the title follow?

Just was curious.

I believe he is right. It follows the frame of the car in NY.

cali follows to things the frame and the motor. The frame keeps the title. The motor is taged with a vin number that is followable so you have to state that the motor and tranny is from a salvage if you sell it to personally or through a bussness. the biggest thing is that every large peice on the car has a vin. In fact I believe that there are 9 position with vins on the S2K and 2 hidden vins for government use hidden in the frame and motor. So use the motor in a kit car sell the frame to a racer who needed a straight frame and keep the parts that you need.
