87 / 89 / 91 is what the suppliers have around here. I burn 91oct, always have. I have never had a knock or ping. Trick is to buy the brand name gas with the good additives. The additives are what prevent the run-on knock and ping. If you don't feel safe, buy some octain additive, but it is really not necessary.
At a chevron we went to today, they already had the 91 stickers ont he pumps.
but dont worry, according to the guy that works at chevron, manufacturers design cars to work on 76 octane gas, even for our high-compression cars. so, dont worry.

This just SUCKS!!! We already have lower octane than some other places (I think the UK and Japan have 93 or better). What is up with that!!!! I think Da Hapa works for a gas company. Maybe he knows what's going on.
Is 91 octane adequate for high performance vehicles?
