I would suggest that you approach the graduate students in your department for assistance if you are unable to meet with the professor. Although they lack the experience of teaching, most tyically grad students will be close to the material and maintain a grasp of what level the material needs to be presented on, to allow for students to wrap their minds around the material.

Dont be afraid to approach the grad students they are most typically hiding in a dark corner in the basement of the building but if you are polite to them they should bend over backward to help you out.
It all depends on who is around. We have a tutoring center that has been very helpful in the past, but this class is only taken by a VERY few students and the methods aren't taught in many, if any, other courses here. It's rare to find someone who can stumble through the problems, let alone understand them well enough to be of assistance in explaining them. The grad students who ARE interesting in this material are currently in the course! (it is being taught at both an undergrad and grad level in the same course)

Thanks for the help though! I just checked out my work again some other student's and it seems to be correct. I should know for sure on Monday. It certainly makes a lot more sense now.

9.9/10

Apparently I forgot to note the stationary distribution, though it was listed in matrix form. Either way, I'll take it!

Thanks for the help, magician. I definitely feel like I know Markov chains pretty well now!

...next comes hidden Markov models and some other variations.
