Maybe they are from Quebec/Montreal??? I can't really hear accents from anyone in the western provinces.

IMO there is a very distinct Canadian accent. In fact, there are several Canadian accents, each associated with various geographical regions. For instance, people from the Maritimes (Eastern Canada) speak differently to Canadians residing in the West. Just as people from the Southern states speak differently to those living in the Northern portions of the country. Also, there are several figures of speech, specific to Canadians, with the word "eh" being the most prominent. Its not surprising that you notice a uniqueness in accent, just as I did when visiting Las Vegas last year. The people down there were very quick to pick me out as being from Canada.

Every time I hear a Canadian say the word "about", it sounds to me like they are saying "a boat".

There it is. Very nicely put Matrix. I have spent a great deal of time in Vancouver with my family there. Ohh, this is the one thing that bugged me (no offense intended).

Oh yeah?! Well, when you say that word, you sound like you're talking "footwear", EH?!
And what's with all y'all using the word "y'all". Is that like a stifled "yawn"?

The reason why I don't anymore is...I never speak to Canadians.

I speak to every other nationality in the world on a daily basis, but not Canadians.

I talk to Mindcore fairly often..but he sounds semi american too

When I got hired for my current job, one of the requirments was "sounding american"...how funny eh?
