Default Canadians are buying the crap out of Autos

I work for a Toyota dealership in South Central, Pennsylvania. It takes at least 5 hours to get from Canada (Niagra Falls Area) to where my dealership is, but even with that we have sold 5 cars in the last month and a half to Canadian Customers!! 1 Rav4, 2 Tundras and 2 Tacomas. In the last week I have also received about 5 more inquiry emails from Canadians, one from as far as British Columbia!!

Now they are saving at least 3-4 grand for buying here in the US but what I don't get is how in the hell are they finding my dealership online!!! I was only able to talk to 1 of the 5 customers and they just said they found us online and searched some dealers to find this particular Rav4 but the other trucks sold could really have been found anywhere.

I'm definitely not bitching about them buying cars from us since moneys money but I'm just so amazed that they are searching out US dealers as much as they are, as well as finding my dealership when there are so many other Toyota dealers between me and them

Let's stop them!

Take our troops home from Iraq and invade Canada instead. Drive them to the arctic!

Several Canucks have bought their S's in the US over the past several years. With an MSRP of $50k, it's not hard to see why!

I also know of some Toyota dealerships in the US who have been fined upwards of $3,000 by Toyota for selling a vehicle to Canadians. Toyota's stance right now is that it violates the franchise agreement to sell a new vehicle knowingly to a Canadian for export out of the US.

They can save TONS of money right now buying US cars. Of course they would. IT's like the old gray market european cars used to be.

I say US should be happy about it and encourage it. With the economy being poor having foreign money coming in a fueling sales is not a bad thing. Only ones who should be mad about it are the manufacturers who are no longer the ones benefiting, it's the customers that are.

like i said i aint bitchin it's more of a hassle though to get all the paperwork squared away for the border and all. i have to fax paperwork up to the border 72 hrs before the customer goes across, and then while the customer is still at the store, we have to get alot of papers notarized so they will be ok and not have any issues at the border.

luckily all 5 vehicles got across no problem

the rav4 customer told me that he is saving $5k on the price of the vehicle but he has to pay a small tarif at the border b/c it was produced in japan. if it was made in north america there wouldn't have been a problem.

oh and one of the tundra customers brought some sweeeeeet cohiba cuban cigars down for us too

Yea.. the only good thing about a weak dollar is the increased purchase of exports (and canucks xing the boarder), and the increase in foreign investment in infrastructure.

Our tourism industry is booming right now because foreigners can finally afford to come here because of the weak dollar.
