Default Canon PowerShot G3 camera

Anyone have the Canon G3? Or even the G2? I'm looking to buy my first digital camera, I think the G3 suits me best, and the price should be coming down even more soon due to the imminent release of the G5. So I'm just looking for any personal comments from G2/3 owners. Thanks!

The Canon G3 is one of the best, if not THE best consumer digital camera out there. As a first camera, there may be a lot of features you won't use, but that's ok. It's not the bulkiest camera out there, but it's not the slimmest nor lightest either. But with this camera, I say you get more than what you pay for.

I have the G2. Highly capable camera with lots of potential. I use a lot of the features on there. The swivel LCD comes in handy so much! and so does the remote control. Canon quality is very good, if not the best. I'd get the G3 if I were you, since you can record in higher resolution for movie mode. Yes...price did go a ton down, since I bought mine last year .

I also have the G2. I love it. I'm still tryng to figure out how to use everything. To get the best pictures i've learned to use the manual modes.

The G2 is a great camera. Here's a small sample of what I've done it with lately. http://www.foadmedia.com/exhibit/

If it's going to be your first digital, you're in good shape. It's easy to use with lots of room to grow into the professional features.

The optical viewfinder is useless. I always use the LCD. The great thing about the LCD on the G2 (some of the other Canons as well) is that it comes out from the back of the camera and can tilt/swivel so you have a lot more flexibility in positioning the camera and still being able to see your frame. In bright sun though, the LCD is quite hard to see.

All the cameras I looked at, the G3 was the best. I bought mine a week ago for HIN. The pictures are amazing. Here are some pictures I took at night, last night.

High Resolution!

I have a G2 (and Nikon D100), obviously the SLR can do more...but I love the G2! I would buy it again for sure.

G2 = "works great, lasts long time"

Cheers -

I have the G3. Here's some pictures I took with it. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=128119

Also others on my site, www.samlee888.com. I think the camera is one of the best. When I had purchased it, I was trying to decide between the Sony F717 and G3, and I decided to go with the G3. Although... now that the G5 is out, I am thinking of selling mine. BTW, in the pictures from the 2fast2furious meet, I used a telescopic lense + a tripod, for reference.

I think you'll definitely be happy with the G3, but if you plan on using it for multimedia purposes, you might want to invest in the G5. I really feel the extra megapixel could be advantageous in that sense, which is why I'm considering upgrading.

Best of luck deciding on which camera you want. Ebay has some great deals.
