Default cant break this fever

I hardly ever get sick, maybe once every 2 or 3 years but ive had the worst 3 days and nothing is helping. I went to the DR on friday he said it was a mild virus and for me to take IB profin in the day then a pm tylenol before i go to sleep. When i go to sleep i will take up 1-2 hrs later, my sheets, shirt and pants will be soaked totally. I move to the extra bed in my house and the same thing, 2 hours later the bed is soaked. last night i ended up taking three baths because it was the only way i could stay warm without soaking my bed. Im at 100-101 degerees and ive been there since friday. my throat was clear untill last night and now im starting to cough up that yellow crap, im trying to stay hydrated and im drinking probally 2 gallons a day of water. i didnt have a sore throat till yesterday but now ive got one, even drinking water irritates. if im not better my tomorrow im going to either go back to the dr or maybe even the hospital. ive got work tomorrow from 8-8 so i really wanna break this asap. let me know if anyone has ideas. THANKS.

First you should see a doctor.

I'd personally stop taking ibuprophen all together and only take acteometiphen (tylenol).

Breaking fevers is the only thing I Tylenol does for me.

The bath is good for symptom relief, but you're not going to get better from it.

Pretty much you have to ride it out.

You can take 1000mg of atcetometiphen at a time three times a day but if you have any liver problems you want to stay away from it.

Obvioudly don't drink alcohol and drink a lot of room temperature water.

Hope you feel better soon

That's basically what it all comes down to. Your body has to take care of things and it best knows how. Keep an eye on your temp and talk to a doctor to see what he feels would be an upper limit for how hot you can get before it's dangerous (a bit different for each person), but you basically just need to stick it out.

go shopping:
-get a matress pad and stay in bed
-reduce the calories your body needs for maintance, sweat is ok no bath
-drink warm fluids with lots of calories, sugar, broth
-eat some easy to digest solid foods, rice what ever
-get some hard candy
-rent some dvd's

find a doctor, maybe the same one:
-what is the critical temperature for a person your age and at the current rate how long should the temperature run
-get tested for strep throat, simple easy, if your you/wife/girlfriend is a school teacher (or lots of people contact) get the medication anyway, strep is not viral, easy to get rid of with anitbiodics, the test for strep is not 100%
-get the doctor to explain somethings like time frame you need to expect for this, what over the counter meds you need to get to supress the cough you might now have, this can run 2weeks?

goto work:
-see if you can take a half day, a day or 2 off, sounds not possible tho
-take it easy at work
-try not to infect your co-workers, they in turn can re-infect you... again
-bring food to work, the same stuff you eat now or what you should eat now
-layer your clothing so you stay warm not hot

Do you have swollen, painful lymph nodes under your jaw? Look at the back of your throat and tonsils. If you see any patches of pus, go back and see the doctor to get tested for strep throat.

Eat red meat - lots of zinc - promotes white blood cell production. That and vitamin C ar your best bets, but nothing really speeds up recovery.
