Thumbs up Car portfolio for attracting sponsorships

I'd like to put together a portfolio for presentation to prospective sponsors. I am unsure as to the overall layout. Does anyone have experience putting one together?

Depending on who you are trying to attract it can be more complicated. NEVER ask if they do sponserships. Put this together then present them with it. Make sure you call it either a Sponsership or Marketing Business Proposal.

Here are the basics.

1) Who are you? Give a one or two paragraph description of yourself. Include any information that will help sell yourself. Awards, licenses, special acknowledgement or accolades.

2) What are you doing? Racing, showing, what? Include LOTS of statics as to why it benefits them to sponsor you. Demographics are your friend here. Don't be shy, however do not be lengthy.

3) What do you want? Money, parts, what? Include detailed plans if requesting money. If you want parts be sure to specify if you want free or cost +- %.

4) Detail business plan. Why you? What events or plans do you have with the sponsership you would receive. This should be VERY specfic. Feel free to include demographic information again. Show them your plan to give them their money's worth. Do NOT ramble here.

5) Why you? If you already have the car built and need money for track time say that. If you need parts to finish the car to race say that.

6) Thank them for their time reading proposal and always say "I look forward to hearing from you regarding this exciting proposal."

7) Include pictures, if you race then from a race or two, if you show from a show. If you want to put together a video make sure it is 5 minutes or less and make sure it continues to keep their attention. If you lose their attention with a video you've lost the contract.

8) Make sure you include a nice cover letter and your contact information.

Former sponsors I've obtained or help obtained for others:
-Valvoline
-Bank Of America
-Union Bank
-Some small automotive shops (local)

Good Luck!
