i would say being a car salesman right now isnt a good job. Not many people are buying cars right now.

most of your money will depend on your sales. so, how much money you make depends entirely on how good you are at it.

that should take care of the basics...

1) Is it a nice yearly wage (you may pm if you want)
Pay plan is different from store to store. Mine is 100% commision and volume bonus. I work in the Internet Sales Department so its a little different from the old school car sales. I was 18 when I got hired on and I work full time and go to school full time. This is to pay for school. I was a waiter before this.
my first 6 months i was on track for XXX,XXX. (especially with the gas prices going up) economy slowed down and now it might be a long road haha.

2) How would I go about getting a job like this.
Go to a store an apply. most stores love the "green peas" with little or no expirience in sales. As long as you want to make alot of money.
3) What dealer would you guys prefer to work at
I work at a Honda store. Everyone needs good cars . I believe in the product and almost anyone can buy a honda.
4) Would you rate this kinda job as or and why.
If you have thick skin and a positive attitude, skies the limits. If you have some work expirience Im pretty sure youll get hired on.

hope this helps!

You may have to check out the area you'll be living in to see what the market is like.

But in any case you should be safe if you stay with Japanese cars, preferrably Toyota or Honda. I work for Toyota and eventhough the market is down right now we are at least still selling cars. The domestic guys here in town are hurting baaaad.

Good luck

I have no clue for any of your questions but as for #3:

Any dealership that sells exotics.

The reason why is because you'd get paid a lot of money.

Thanks for all the imput so far

thebig33tuna - I read through the whole article. It was good and imformal

donger274 - Great information, and did you mean that after the first 6 months you were on track for xxx,xxx from selling cars, or from the job you were getting after schooling?

CrazyCracker82 - I wouldnt mind working for a Honda dealer since im a huge fan as most of us here are lol. Im actually trying to plan just a little bit ahead because, I do want to take a trip over to Cali, so I can look around and see if it is were I would like to live.

UmarS2K - An exotic car dealer would be great but I figure getting one of those positions are one in a million, and i would imagine the pay would be exceptional

^^^^Like donger274 said "skies are the limit". I work in sale also and how much you make is base on how well you work. I said "well" because working hard doesn't always guarantee you more $$$$. Its not a job where everyone get paid the same amount regardless how little or hard you work. This is one of those job/career where being well prepare/organize/knowledgeable/using your forte effectively will bring you success because you won't survive long if you're slacking off.
