thanks for the tips guys.. I've decided to take the CPA exam now then progress onto a MBA later on (if needed to enhance my career).

Besides, going CPA first will help me with my resume when I apply to USC later on.

get the cpa first, it will help you get into a better mba program.

I am going to get both CPA and MBA. I'm currently studying for the BEC section with Becker CPA Review. CPAs are always a pretty safe career. looking into MBA programs, they specifiy that having a CPA designation can bypass some of the other requirements. good luck either way!

If you already have the CPA and BS in accounting degree, I can tell you going for your MBA is just going to be a waste of money unless you get into a top tier business school. The CPA designation with accounting experience is tremendous as is. Unless of course you plan on a career change using the MBA. Otherwise take the 50k-100k or more you will spend on an MBA and invest it.

For instance....BS in accounting + CPA + SEC audit experience (4-7 years) will land you a controller spot, or a high level accounting position in private (like acctg. manager). Stay a little longer (8-12yrs) in public and you can get a director of financial reporting, Internal Audit Director, CFO, or CAO spot (depending on how large the organisation is.) Stay in it as a career and make partner. No real need for an MBA in this scenario.

[QUOTE=QUIKAG,Aug 15 2007, 04:40 AM] That is the problem with a BBA in business and an MBA.
