So, after my trip to the CART GP of the Americas (Miami, FL) last year, I've decided to do at least one race this year.

Because I will be bringing my girlfriend, I've decided to look at race locations that will offer other attractions other than racing (hence no USGP). I'm also keeping cost in mind (hence no trips to Europe or Australia). . .

I've narrowed it down to CART's season opener in Long Beach and F1's Canadian GP in Montreal.

From a cost standpoint, the trips are very similar. So that is not an issue. . .

But both races do have their pros and cons.

For example, Long Beach in April sound great (especially given the bitter cold of this winter). But, nothing beats the excitement of an F1 event (especially when its not held in the US ). . .

I'm leaning toward Montreal, but the idea of an early trip away from this cold weather makes for a compelling argument. . .

I'm looking for feedback and comments. . .

Montreal. It's one of the oldest and possibly the most beautiful big city in North America. Your US dollar will be stretched a little father in Canada. There's lots of CART races to go to in the US, but there's only one F1 race in all of North America. And if our government doesn't get their act together soon, this could be the last F1 race in Canada. The ban on tobacco advertising was lifted for this year. Who knows what's happening next year. I was also born in Montreal, so I'm a little biased.

Chris.

No brainer-----> F-1 Montreal

" IF " The Long Beach GP happens (due to CART going bankrupt). The OWRS/Formerly known as CART race will have either a short field (18 cars) or a lot of unknown drivers. Also their cars will be a couple years old along with spec Ford engines.

No HONDA's there (LB) either.

Thanks for all of the feedback. . . The more I think about it, the more the Canadian GP seems like the way to go. . .

Not to mention, I can probably swing a trip to a CART race later in the season. . .

Go to the Chinese GP in Shanghai: tickets are only $40 for the entire weekend.
