Default Cell Phone Fraud...

Today in the mail i got my bill from Cingular. This is the 4th month in a row that i've been over $200 on my bill. I thought i talked a lot until at work today i stopped and thought. There is no FREAKIN way i talked 950 Peak Minutes. Somone informed me that people can duplicate the chip (SIM card) in the back of cingular phones and use their minutes. I got one of my phones stolen, and dont know if the SIM card in that one was deactivated or not. I supposed it was once i got my new one from Cingular. If anyone knows any information about something like this please help me, i just spent over 600 dollars paying for my phone bills.
TIA

Parker

if your bill was only 200, i doubt that was fraud. Usually fraud ranges in the thousands.... you will know if you got cloned.

I will say, it is because you have a crappy carrier..

Verizon or nothing. Best coverage, best customer service. They may not have the nicest phones out there or be the cheapest, but I will take a phone with a few less features and pay a couple of bucks more per month to know that I am going to be able to use it when I need it. In your case, it was most likely a billing error, go over every one of your calls on your bill and make sure there are no numbers that you don't recognize.

I once had a cell phone bill that went 7000 minutes over my limit. (I thought I had mobile - mobile but I guess not). My bill ended up being a little over $1000 and boy, did that set back my plans for modding my s2k.

Yeah I agree with Rallykid, Verizon is awesome. I've been with them for a long time now, and you can't beat the great service they give you...

Without wanting to start another useless who is the best cell phone thread -- Verizon may be fantastic in your area in terms of reception, but that is not a reality everywhere.

theft is possible tho..the thief could be trying to not be noticeable. it is very very easy to clone phones.

I would ask for itemized billing, that way you can be sure when the calls were made etc etc.

What's Itemized Billing? It was 200 dollars over what i had to pay. But i didn't check all of my calls becuase i had to go to class, but after work today i'm going to check them all. I just added first incoming minute free, because a lot of my calls on there were incoming. But no matter what i still dont feel like i talked that much. We'll find out when i go over my bill tonight.
Thanks Steve C for that PM. Very Helpful, i hate to hear that little of the bills on Cell Phones are accurate.
Thank you to the rest also.

Parker

this will make modding my S take only longer...grrr

Cell phones; Cant live with 'em, cant live without 'em.
