you don't get interference on a digital cable. this is why it doesn't matter in the slightest what brand you get.

Yet another vote for monoprice.com

They are SUPER fast at shipping (even to Canada), and they're in-stock prices across the board can not be beat anywhere.

I've bought from them:

180lbs capable plasma wall mount
LCD monitor flat wall mount
8 HDMI cables of varying lengths, up to 25'
HDMI switch box with IR remote (controlled by my Harmony remote now)
50' Toslink optical cable
IR extender boxes
Wii remote batteries and chargers
Wii accessories

The whole lot listed above has cost me less than $350 total, with taxes SHIPPED, bought over several orders in the last couple years. They're also great for projector screens, wall plates & in-wall cabling systems, and almost anything technology setup & install related.

OK, I'm not an electrical engineer, but with my minimal knowledge of physics, I'm having a hard time believing this. Even though it's digital (meaning 0s & 1s), it is still using an electronic signal to transmit the signal, so you can still get interference. You can still have signal loss/deterioration over long distances. You can still have timing issues if the multiple individual wires (one for each pin used in the connector) that make up the HDMI cable have inconsistent properties.

With that said, I'm still running 720p over component and haven't upgraded to HDMI, so I don't actually know anything about the quality of the various cables. I do suspect that most people won't notice any difference between the various commercially available cables, though.
It doesn't get 'interference' in the way you'd expect from something like an analog audio cable. It's either on or off. Works, or doesn't work. You'll never get a fuzzy image or weird buzzes in audio.

Any brand HDMI cable is fine up to 6 feet. It's when you have to go 25+ feet that the quality matters.

I am (was) a monoprice fanboi, but last time I bought from them they got hacked and my debit card # was stolen. I might buy from them again if they were the only one that had what I wanted (their flatscreen wall mounts are fantastic, I have 2, one for a 32" one for a 47", and both were <$20) but I'd A) shop around and B) use a credit card, preferably one with good fraud protection and a low credit limit.

I still disagree that "it either works or doesn't".

You might not get fuzzy pictures or buzzing, but you'll get blocking/tiling or dropped frames in your video, and you'll get clicks/chirps/etc in your audio. Electronic interference is electronic interference. The effect may be different depending on how the signal is interpreted and the correction algorithms applied to the signal, but if the signal in is not equal to the signal out, then there will generally be a decrease in quality. And even with digital it is possible for electronic interference to cause a 0 to look like a 1 and vice versa, but depending on the amount of interference and the signal causing the interference, it may not affect every bit that goes through.

I believe you are correct in theory but in practice the very cheapest digital cable works fine. I worry most about the connector plating and eventual corrosion, fretting, or just wiping off. But that's way down the road and no big deal for an open-air install (versus a hidden in-the-wall install).

I got mine from Walmart online for $10.00. They came in like 4 days and work fine. As long as quality goes, I've just heard that as long as they have gold plated connectors, its all good.

I ended up going with a double set on ebay, which included a component cable (for my ps2) and an hdmi cable (for my ps3). all together, ran me $10

thanks for the input, guys
