Default Cheap Vacation from DFW?

I'm looking to book a cheap vacation out of DFW some time around the end of April. Anybody have any good sites they use? I've used Funjet & WorryFreeVacations in the past and had good results, however WorryFree doesn't fly out of DFW any more, and Funjet doesn't look very cheap these days. I'm guessing that the overall price of flights has gone up, which is why the deals don't look so good.

Anyway, I've been looking at Cozumel & Montego Bay, Jamaica. I want something with a short flight from DFW, something laid back and something cheap. Any recommendations for web sites, or for alternate destinations? If you have specific hotels you'd recommend, that'd be great, too. I'm looking for an All-Inclusive deal.

Several decent all inclusive place in Cabo. Food and drinks are pricey about town though.

Many people feel Cancun is too American and touristy, but its fine if you just want a cheap place to get away.

Both places have been relatively free of drug lord shootouts too!

^ Thanks. Yeah, I've been to both of those. Cancun is a bit too "Spring Break" for me... i.e., too many drunk, crazy, college-age kids. While the college girls are nice to look at, I'm wanting something a little more mellow.

Cabo is nice, but still a little more expensive than Cozumel, in general. And when I was there last time, the water was very cold, the currents were strong, and the beach was coarse. It's fun to do some star-watching there, though. I had my first celebrity sighting there, where I sat 2 tables over from Sarah Lancaster, and although I didn't recognize him at the time, I think she was with Joshua Gomez (both of them are from the TV show Chuck). That was exciting to me, lol!

Ok. The maybe Puerta Vallarta or Zihuatenejo.

You want beach or outdoorsie adventure stuff? I bet a flight to Reno would be cheap, then its a 45 minute drive to Lake Tahoe and be on the water, ski, hike, during the day and a little night life or casino if you are into that sort of thing. Night life near Tahoe I mean, NOT Reno. Thats just, well......

I like to do the outdoor adventure stuff when I travel. Hike, kayak, scuba, get to places where there are few people and see something amazing. But most people who post here want to get crazy drunk and find women. My wife would frown at me if I tried that.

For this trip, I just want 3 days of sunshine. I'm planning to sit by the water (pool or ocean, I don't care), soak up some rays and drink some beer. I'm not looking to go out and party, and I'm not looking to do a lot of exploring/adventure stuff. I just want to get away from my house and go somewhere sunny and warm where the food & alcohol is all included and served to me wherever I may be sitting.

As for the places you mentioned, wasn't there just a drug lord attack near Puerto Vallarta? I might be a little nervous about going there. I don't know much about Zihuatanejo. I'll look into that.

Dunno, I thought it was Acupulco, but they have a couple drug lord killings a day in Mexico. Its hard to keep track. They are not usually by the hotel pool though so you'll be fine.

Maybe something along this line would work for you, and you can easily drive or fly.
