Buy a head of lettuce and a bottle of salad dressing. $3. Skip the dressing and use olive oil and red wine vinegar, $1.50

A pound of ground beef, a can of tomato sauce, a few spices and a bag of beans. Cook um on low for a couple hours and you've got chilli. That's dinner and leftover lunch for the microwave. $8

A box of corn flakes and a quart of milk. $6

A pound of ground beef, an onion, some sliced mushrooms, 2 cloves of garlic, a can of spaghetti sauce and a package of spaghetti. that's 2-3 dinners with leftovers for lunch. $10

Total bill: $28. Total yield: 5 dinners, 8-12 lunches. < $1.50 each.

Stay away from packaged foods and take-out and you can eat cheap. There are actually many other much cheaper and much tastier things to eat. Buy with the weekly grocery flyer, clip coupons, buy stuff on sale, stick to fresh foods and cheaper meats/cuts. You can actually do some great things for < $2/lb in the meat counter. Most involve slow cooking because the cuts tend to have a lot more connective tissue and can be tough unless rendered for a long time. The good part is that the slow cooking makes it tastier.

You can eat well for < $5/day, many do. Others are lazy and starve. I personally prefer my grilled rib steaks @ $9/lb but then again I've earned them

I did some prawns tonight fabulous.

Eggs are cheap and you can do alot with them plus they are good protein and stick with you for a long time.

Salad dressing, grape seed oil, roasted garlic vinegar, salt, pepper, oregano..

We need a recipe thread

-take a salad to work (to eat), make it in the morning so yes i am a little late but phuck it. lots of trauma tho as i dont have a leak proof container for the backpack. balsamic vinegar is a good lo cal dressing add it later when you get to work if you ride in.

-those days i goto the gym during lunch, bring a lo cal smoothly, one that dost require refrigeration as much (method):
small amount of liquid (orange or lemon crystal lite), 1/2 tub tofu, 3 scoops protein powder, choice of sweeter, add a concentrate sweeter of choice too (either artificial or real). some tofu has a pasty taste, your bad, buy a more better brand. while mixing this stuff, if the blender dosnt rotate itself on the kitchen counter you have added too much liquid crystal lite. this concoction can be made very thick, again depends on how much liquid you add (the tofu has lots of liquid in it).

screw the domestic; see if there is pho restaurant handy near by work.

You could eat hard boiled eggs, beef, chicken, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned salmon, peanut butter, almond butter etc.

Make it in bulk and nuke it in the micro or eat cold, get a bunch of veggies you can eat raw, and maybe some fruit and your set.

edit: I would try to stay away from milk and wheat products as most people have some type of allergy to them (noticeable or not) and if you can, its better to just keep it out.

Same with soy products, I believe I just read a study last night mentioning how soy/tofu type products are digested poorly and do more harm than good if you are caucasian.

Just some food for thought.
