Default checking account info

couple days ago i made several checks that weren't due for another 2 weeks but i didn't want to forget to send them out so i sent all four out at the same time.I didn't have enough money to cover all four checks in my account so i DATED them for next week.NOW...I check my account online today and it shows i have an overdraft...for some reason i thought checks couldn't be cashed until the DATE you wrote in....Guess i was wrong cuase i called customer service and they said the DATE is only for personal use and has nothing to do with when they can deposit the check.Just thought I'd rant about being a DUMMY.

BTW I use Wells Fargo

peace

Yeah, we have a client that sends four checks every month...dated for each week. They all go to the bank together.

Wait, why do people say a check can't be deposited 6 months after it's been written if the date on the top does nothing?

I used to date my checks...today. It drove the manager nuts. Small town bank so everyone knew one another.

It can go one way...but not the other.

I think it is a felony to date a check for the past.

Wells Fargo -- the Kings of Hidden Fees.

I've been pretty happy with Washington Mutual-- free checking (and one free overdraft per year, btw)

i go with bank of america.
the e-bill check function allows you to send a check to anyone in about 4-5 days on a date of your chosing. the major companies receive it in about 1-2 days.

Can you get an online billpay service through your bank? You can schedule the bills to be paid the day before they're due and you don't have to worry about mailing costs, checks, etc.

I agree...after they lost an 1800 check I deposited in person I waited the three weeks for them to figure it out and went to WaMu...not really any problems yet, except for I'm still waiting on my $75 Amex gift card for opening an account, 3 months late...I do ATM banking so I still haven't had time to make it to a branch. I figure there will always be problems, at least this is with a 'gift' vs. my money!

Plus their online banking is awesome! They have some good 'free checks for life' offers right now.
