There is this rib place that I have been wanting to try so I venture out on Saturday night to go get some. Well, parking was pretty tight in the area, so I pulled the 4Runner into the CLOSED Meineke and parked there while I went in, ordered the food TO GO and was gonna head back to the homestead for grub and adult beverages. The only sign said that overnight parking will not be tolerated and cars will be towed. I didn

Greg, it sounds like the tow guy was trolling for business. Just be glad it wasn't Scarlet that some yahoo hooked up half-assed and dragged to the impound lot. I do hope at least the ribs were good, but I bet they're better in Texas. Sorry, bud.

You might consider taking a picture of the sign at the muffler place and taking the towing co. to small claims court. You have a good case and I think it only costs like $40 to file, if you feel like screwing with it.

if you are going to spend that much, go ahead and add this link to your favorites for mail order BBQ - I'm *sure* you've been there before. but 2nd day shipping sounds a little chilly for me.

I little known rule, at least here in Toronto. You don't have to pay them a cent to get your car back. I've had cars towed before, I just tell the guy, listen, I'm calling the cops and reporting that you stole my car, and are unwilling to release it. Works everytime. 'cept once, when I actually did call the cops, they came, told the guy to release my car and that was it. Turns out, the ownice is on them to collect, they can't hold the car. If they want thier money they have to take you to court...Not the other way around. This might not be true in all places, but worth knowing incase it happpens again.

I can see it know... Poor Mr. Stevens wondering around lost with his ribs under hi arm.. It a great mental picture!
