Default choppers and harley motorcyles?

i cant stand loud choppers and especially harleys, they are so ####ing annoying. first of all they are loud even when they idle and gets even worse when they accelerate. i dont mind loud exhaust or vehicle, after all i do have a 3" turbo back exhaust on my car but its no where near as loud or annoying. i seriously want to light them on fire..

im i the only one or is there other people who think the same??

You are not alone. They really annoy the crap out of me. I place them on the same level as a ricer. They're not very high performing, make a lot of noise, & only purpose is for "show". At red lights they sit there & rev it. Its fking 2008, they're EFI & can idle just fine. One day this guy was in the lane next to me & kept revving. I revved my car back & he just looked over. He stopped revving then. Probably had a epiphany just then that revving is stupid.

the gear they wear: jacket, gloves, boots, etc are not well made, the thinnest leather and some no helmet. if they have a get off, even at their slow speeds, they will not come out of it well.

just increases my health insurance

I don't understand why they have laws against loud exhausts, on cars at least, and yet they are exempt.

A friend of mine has one and he just took off the mufflers and have straight pipes. He can't even hear himself think when he's on the bike, much less talk to anyone. When he gets off he can't hear well for about a half an hour due to his ears ringing.

You always get that one idiot that lives in an otherwise quite subdivision. Early morning Saturday's are the best when the loud ass Harley revs in the driveway for a good 15 minutes while it warms up.

The open-pipe boys are big children. "Hey, look at me!" I agree, not much different than ricers.

And what cracks me up is all that noise usually produces maybe 60 HP and every single one of them gets WORKED by ANY standard motorcycle.

they claim they need to make them loud so people can "see" them more....

I personally can not stand loud harleys...

I work about 20 miles from the one of the main Harley plants which is in York, Pa. There are so many Harleys around this area it isn't even funny and 2 Harley dealers within 10 miles in either direction. AND I work right next door to a Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki motorsports dealer so they have Crotchrockets and Cruisers there and douchebags are always popping wheelies out of there

and it's funny that this thread is up b/c it's a nice day today and Battlefield Harley in Gettysburg is having there bike week this weekend so Bikes upon bikes are all over the place

I am a little biased. My ride right now is a 07 Fatboy and I have been a Harley rider for over 20 years.

I don't like the open pipes either or some of the aftermarket exhausts which serve no purpose other than to increase the noise. I agree with your "hey look at me" observation.

However, much like our Honda's can get worked by many other vehicles, many of us don't own our 'Hog's' for 1/4 mile times or for being tossable. In fact many of us have other bikes as well for just that reason.

My current ride weighs a tad under 750 lbs and has about 120 lb feet torque. It is not a dresser. I have a couple of saddle bags and that is it. Ok, I admit to sometimes throwing a clear windshield on if it is a long highway run!

I ride a Harley because I have had many bikes over the years and nothing comes close to running down the road like this bike. Or gets as much attention, or holds its value better or has been (knock on wood) as maintenance free.

I do enjoy Harleys and like the look of them and I'd honestly rather ride on of them than a crotch rocket but some of the exhaust stuff is over kill. The styling is nice but the noise is just nuts.
