Default Cisco Certifications-help

Are there anyone that holds any Cisco Certifications in here? How hard is it to obtain one? Is an associate degree necessary or just learn on your own and take the test?? I'm thinking about learning to obtain a CCNA certification. Thanks!

CCNA is pretty basic. You need zero experience to pass the exam although I do recommend getting some old routers off ebay or a router sim to practice with. IOne person in the department where I work with has a CCNA and has never touched a router or switch in a production environment.

Keep in mind that just a CCNA will probably not get you a job all by itself. Sure, it's a differentiator between job candidates with all things being equal.

BTW, the Sybex book by Todd Lammle is a good one if you decide to go it on your own. And one more thing... two guys I know who did not pass the exam the first time knew the material but were too slow in answering the questions and ran out of time when they got to the simulations. Had they been quicker, they would have passed the first time around.

so to obtain other certificates, you have to have CCNA to start out with?
